The original illustration was created by the artist Einar Nerman and modelled after his young son. Adorning Sweden’s preferred matchboxes since 1936, with part of the proceeds earmarked for the Solstickan Foundation, sales benefit children and the elderly.

Over the years 10 billion matchboxes have been sold, making it one of Sweden’s most reproduced pieces of art, and resulting in millions of kronor towards projects and research.
